●用意するもの：コーヒーフィルター（白）／水性マーカー／透明のカップ／水／画用紙

【1】	先生が植物の成長について説明する。生徒は説明の通り、 画用紙に絵を描いてみる。 This is how a plant grows. A plant starts with a seed. The garden bed/soil is watered. The sun shines. The roots grow. Shoots grow. The stems grow. The vine climbs/grows. The leaves grow.

【2】	朝顔の花を作る。 まず、コーヒーフィルターに水性マーカーで線を描き、蛇腹に折る。 Let’s make a morning glory. Draw two lines, one blue and one green on both sides of the coffee filter with water-based markers. Fold the filter like a fan.

【3】	透明のカップに１cmほど水を入れ、フィルターの尖った方を水に数分浸す。 Pour about one centimeter of water into a clear cup. Dip the small end into the water and leave it for a few minutes.

【4】	フィルターが水を吸い上げ、インクがしみだして上昇する。 てっぺんまで水が上がったら、水から取り出して乾かす。 The filter will absorb the water to the top. As this happens, the ink will bleed up with the water. Once the water is absorbed to the top, take the filter out and dry it.

乾いたら広げてコーンのような形に整える。 根元から3cmほどをねじり、花のように開く。 開かずに全体をひねるとつぼみができる。 Once it’s dry, hold it upside down by the small end. Use your hand to open it to a cone shape. Then twist about three centimeters of the stem-end, turn the flower the right way up and open it. You can also make a bud by gently twisting the whole flower.

★水性インクを水を使って展開する方法をpaper chromatographyと言います。
★色やペンの種類によって色の分れかたが変わる（インクの液体の重さによって、1色でも何色に分かれる）ので、色々試してみるのも楽しいでしょう。
色の足し算、割り算を考えるのも学びの多いアクティビティになります。
★寒色を使った方が多色に展開できます。
